Red Bridge Elementary teacher Chrissy Chandler had a wish.
Her wish for her students was that they would have the opportunity to participate in the First Lego League Robotics program. The core values of First Lego League include ideas like Gracious Professionalism, working as a team, learning is more important than winning, and sharing. These are values that Chrissy wanted to share with her students. With help from the Center Education Foundation, Chrissy formed two teams at Red Bridge and the results were spectacular. Students learned how to create and program a robot to perform various tasks related to disaster recovery. They worked together. They learned from each other. They displayed Gracious Professionalism. They were able to participate in several levels of competition, including the Regional Finals at Kansas City's Union Station. Public television station KCPT followed their adventures.
We're glad that Chrissy had a wish. And we're glad that the Center Education Foundation could help make that wish a reality for our students.
